Core Investment Approach
John 15:5 is the scripture that drives my investing. God said that we cannot do anything in life without Him and that surely includes investing His resources in turbulent economies. I believe that investing, like all things in life, should be done to the glory of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Real faith, as defined by God, is not a nebulous concept, nor is it some sort of feeling derived from one's self. The Bible defines it as follows:
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1)
Consider the meanings of the underlying Greek words, hypostasis and elegchos, that were translated "substance" and "evidence" (respectively) in the above verse.
hypostasis = confidence, firm trust, assurance, that which has foundation or is firm; that which has actual existence
elegchos = a proof, that by which a thing is proved or tested
Faith is the condition of those who are confidently trusting in the living God, after He has revealed Himself to them. It is also genuine; they have continued living by it. It is the tangible spiritual condition of a valid walk with Jesus Christ.
Similarly, investments must be made with a disciplined strategy, carried out in conjunction with information that is true.
Investing blindly based on emotion, popular agreement, faulty academic theories, manipulated statistics or political persuasion does not apply. This is the information of a deceived investor. He will be like a person who claims to know God, but does not know His Word.
"But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)
In the same way that it is impossible to please God without confidently living through His son, investors who do not stick to a strategy based on truth, will not be successful. Through True Vine Investments, I strive to make all investments by faith, acting on the wisdom of God, as revealed by His Spirit. My desire is that results bring wealth to my clients for provision and God's purposes.
